With a shared spirit of reflection, community members gathered at the Memorial Garden this morning for the annual Blessing of the Roads ceremony—a meaningful event that brings attention to road safety ahead of the busy Easter travel period.
The ceremony was emceed by the ever warm and welcoming Tracey Rathbone. Local police officers, ambulance officers, and firefighters stood proudly among community members, showing a united front in support of safer roads for all.
A moving prayer was read by Jan Blakey, inviting those gathered to pause, reflect, and honour the lives lost on the roads, while also calling for protection over all who travel in the days and months ahead.
Set in the peaceful surrounds of the Kambalda Memorial Garden, the gathering was both solemn and uplifting.
The presence of emergency services added a powerful layer of meaning, highlighting the dedication of those who respond to road incidents every day. Their message was clear: road safety is a shared responsibility.
As families prepare for their Easter holidays, today's Blessing of the Roads offered a timely and touching reminder that every journey matters—and that a few moments of care on the road can save lives.
