Charters Towers Regional Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Scott Greensill as Interim Chief Executive Officer, commencing 6 May 2025.
Mr Greensill brings a wealth of experience with over 40 years of local government experience, having previously held key leadership positions in Queensland and New South Wales, including a period with Charters Towers Regional Council as Interim Director and Acting Chief Executive Officer during periods of leave.
His experience will be instrumental in providing continued steady leadership and guiding the organisation while Council recruit for a permanent CEO.
Mayor Liz Schmidt said Council looks forward to working with Mr Greensill to provide direction during this transition period.
“With his previous experience and knowledge of our Region, we are pleased to welcome him back,” continued Mayor Schmidt.
This leadership transition comes as Council prepares to farewell outgoing CEO Mr Martin Drydale, following his recent resignation, effective 16 May 2025.
Over the past three years, Mr Drydale has made a significant impact and has been commended for his strong leadership and influence over improving financial sustainability, workplace culture, and delivery of Council priorities.
Mr Drydale and Mr Greensill will work closely over a two week period to ensure a smooth and thorough handover of responsibilities.
“As Council embarks on this next chapter, we remain committed to our mission and to serving the community,” said Mayor Schmidt.
Council will continue to keep the community informed as new information is confirmed in relation to the appointment of a new permanent Chief Executive Officer.
