Woollahra Council has launched Ganda, a free wayfinding app to help locals and visitors find exactly what they are looking for in Double Bay.
More than 600 local businesses ranging from pubs and cafes, to high fashion, book and gift stores, as well as public car parking locations and transport nodes have been included in the new app, developed by Envent Australia.
Entries include easy to navigate maps, travel directions and times and website and phone contacts for businesses, and will be managed by the Sydney East Business Chamber and is in line with Council’s ongoing revitalisation of the Double Bay commercial centre.
Council’s Manager of Placemaking, Peter Kauter, says the app was developed in line with Council’s ongoing revitalisation of the Double Bay commercial centre and is an ideal way to find all the hidden gems within Double Bay.
“Double Bay has changed for the better in the last few years. There is now so much more to see and do in the area with the commercial centre and surrounds packed with fantastic experiences from the regular Thursday morning markets, beautiful parks, harbourside beaches and some of the best restaurants, cafes and stores in Sydney,” Peter says.
“Double Bay is a unique and stylish bayside village and we are happy to share it with the rest of the world - Ganda is a great way to help discover all that the area has to offer.”
The opening of the InterContinental Sydney, Double Bay, followed by the Kiaora Place development and the launch of Woollahra Library as well as many new businesses has been a major drawcard for visiting Sydneysiders who are accessing the area by ferry, bus and car.
Envent Managing Director Justin Dean says he visited most of the businesses in Double Bay as part of the project and he is excited to see the app put to good use.
“Our flexible platform enables visitors to access the myriad opportunities and experiences within Double Bay in the palm of their hands,” Justin says.
“The main strength of Ganda is in its simplicity of use. Ganda provides visitors with a comprehensive localised easy-to-use mobile wayfinder. Users can search for restaurants, fashion stores, attractions, businesses, services and events in the Double Bay area, and can share and save their favourite destinations.
Sydney East Business Chamber Chair, Katherine O’Regan is delighted the App will provide visitors to Double Bay with a handy and practical way of finding everything Double Bay has to offer.
“Ganda will encourage visitors to Double Bay to not only find what they want but hopefully also discover a reason to stay longer in Sydney’s stylish bayside village,” Katherine says.
Ganda can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store or Google Play.
