Australia Day Public Holiday Event and Services

Proudly sponsored by Council, this event brings together the Moree Plains’ community to celebrate our local Australia Day Award recipients, our newest citizens and catch up over a free breakfast BBQ. As Australia Day is a national public holiday, Council would also like to advise all residents of the following changes to services and facilities on the public holiday on Thursday 26 January 2023.  Unless otherwise set out below, Council’s services and facilities (including our Customer Service Centre in Moree) will operate as usual over this period. Landfills Moree Waste Management Facility - 9am to 1pm Biniguy, Boggabilla, Boomi, Garah, Mungindi, Terry Hie Hie  - Closed COMMUNITY SERVICES Gwydir Day Care and Preschool Gwydir Day Care and Preschool will be closed on Tuesday 26 January 2023 and reopen Friday 27 January 2023.
