Community feedback needed on Murray River master plan review

The Murray River Experience Master Plan was first endorsed in 2007 and has guided improvements and upgrades along the river including Wonga Wetlands, the Wagirra Trail and the Riverside Precinct in central Albury. The extensive plan contains a wide range of actions designed to help connect the Albury community to the river through its many touchpoints, from the West Albury reserves and central riverside parks to Mungabareena and Lake Hume.AlburyCity Mayor, Kylie King, said the time was now right to review what has already been achieved, what actions are still to be undertaken and whether community priorities had changed since the initial plan was launched.“We’re really keen to hear from the community about the work that has been done, but also to gather new ideas for enhancing these wonderful spaces in and around our city,” she said. The two-part review will also look closely at the central riverside area, including Oddies Creek, Noreuil and Hovell Tree parks, examining their function and connection to the central business district and beyond.AlburyCity Service Leader City Landscapes, David Costello, said the public feedback process had been designed to present the review’s key concepts, ideas and projects to key stakeholders and the wider community.“The resulting feedback will help prioritise future open space projects that enhance accessibility, provide quality amenities and promote diverse experiences to meet the future needs of our growing community,” he said.“We’re providing multiple opportunities for people to have their say on this review, including our online Have your Say portal and face-to-face information sessions, or through scheduling a meeting with one of our AlburyCity team.”The consultation period opens today and will close on 5 April 2024.
