Partial Closure of Browns Gap Road extended until Monday 10th March

28 February, 2025

The partial closures of Browns Gap Road will continue for additional four days after one of the two drill rigs conducting the bore testing had a hydraulic pump failure earlier this week. The drill rig has been repaired and is now back in full working order, but the delays caused by this failure have resulted in the expected rate of boreholes being drilled to fall behind schedule. As a result, the partial closure will be extended from the initial expected completion date of Thursday 6th March to the morning of Monday the 10th of March.

Currently the closure is only during weekdays between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm. To ensure the work can be completed by Monday 10th of March, the Council has made the decision to close the road on both Saturday 8th March and Sunday 9th March between 6:00am and 6:00pm so that the team can complete the work delayed by the drill rig hydraulic failure.

No closures will occur this weekend (Saturday 1st March and Sunday 2nd March).

Council acknowledges the inconvenience to residents of an extension of the closure. These works are a crucial step in the full restoration of Browns Gap Road.
