Australia Day celebration moved indoors

The celebrations were orginally scheduled to be held at the Botanic Gardens but the event has now been relocated to the Albury Entertainment Centre, because of a forecast of rain.The ceremony will commence at 10 am with a traditional Welcome to Country performed by a Wiradjuri elder, followed by the Australian Citizenship Ceremony and presentation of the 2021 Albury Awards to Albury’s Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Group of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.Conferees to take the oath of Australian citizenship include people from India, Bhutan, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Botswana, Kenya, New Zealand, Taiwan, America, the Philippines, China, Ireland and Nepal.Seating will be limited to those participating in the ceremony and their families.The event will be subject to COVID-safe requirements.- ends -
