Peter Harle elected Deputy Mayor of Liverpool

Councillor Peter Harle has today been elected Deputy Mayor of Liverpool City Council for the period of October 2024 to September 2025 in an uncontested election.Councillor Harle, who has served the office in the past, is a retired TAFE teacher and has been a Councillor for the last 16 years, being first elected to represent North Ward in 2008.“It is indeed an honour to represent this Council as Deputy Mayor,” Councillor Harle told today’s meeting.“I am grateful for the support shown to me and it is a pleasure to know that you support me.“I have served as Deputy Mayor in the past and hope I can live up to the expectations that have been placed on me in this important position.”This completes the formation of the elected representatives of the current Liverpool City Council.The Mayor, Councillor Ned Mannoun, is a popularly-elected Mayor and was returned to office at the local government election on October 5.The Mayor and Councillors were sworn into office at a short ceremony in the Liverpool Council Chambers on October 11 and the Deputy Mayor was elected by the Councillors at their first council meeting, held today.The makeup of the Council for the current term is:Mayor – Councillor Ned Mannoun.Deputy Mayor – Councillor Peter Harle (North Ward Councillor)North Ward – Councillors Richard Ammoun, Matthew Harte, Mira Ibrahim and Samir Karnib.South Ward – Councillors Emmanuel Adjei, Dr Betty Green, Fiona Macnaught, Ethan Monaghan and Peter Ristevski.Deputy Mayor Peter Harle being congratulated by Mayor Ned Mannoun
