Batemans Bay Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre a step closer

The shire is a step closer to a preferred design for the Batemans Bay Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre.Eurobodalla Shire Councillors will consider on Tuesday 27 August recommendations which pave the way for the lodgement of a development application and completion of a detailed design for the complex.Councillors and key stakeholders – the Mackay Park Sunset Advisory Committee, the president of the Batemans Bay Swim Club, and the Audit Risk and Improvement Committee – have already seen the preferred concept design. With $51M in secured funding - $25M from the Commonwealth Government and $26M from the NSW Government – the combined aquatic centre and theatre and arts space at Mackay Park fulfils decades-long community wishes. The aquatic centre consists of a heated eight-lane 25 metre pool, water-program, leisure and learn-to-swim pools, and waterslides, while the theatre is a flexible performance space with retractable seating for 350, with attached arts, performance and amenities rooms. The preferred concept design is the result of extensive community engagement.
