Long Reef’s new SLSC a step closer to reality

Long Reef’s new SLSC a step closer to reality

Today marks a step closer to the construction of a new $7.5 million purpose-built surf lifesaving club at Long Reef.Mayor Regan, joined by Federal Member for Mackellar, Jason Falinski, Federal Member for Wakehurst, the Honourable Brad Hazzard, and Long Reef SLSC Club President Peter Kinsey to turn the first soil at the site. The project will now start to take shape, boasting a brand-new clubhouse, storage facility for council lifeguards, the board rider group and the community, a café, and a public amenities block. The impressive structure has been designed to nestle comfortably into the natural environment and uses a lot of natural material to be sympathetic to its location. The new site will not only help support the club and its 1000 members to continue to save lives, but it will also provide a family-friendly facility that both residents and visitors can enjoy.Officials were joined at today’s event by Councillors, SLSC Australia, Executive Members of Long Reef SLSC, Nippers, and Patrol members, Adriano Pupilli Architects, Grindley Interiors contractor, Council’s Building Assets (Design), and Capital Projects (Delivery) teams.   This project is made possible due to funding from Local, State, Federal Governments and the Surf Life Saving Club.
