The efforts of a community-minded group of teenagers from Jindabyne Central School have resulted in the installation of a new set of public rubbish and recycling bins at Jindabyne Skatepark.Noticing the frequent build-up of litter around a favourite local spot, the group of Year 10 boys got word to Council about the problem, saying that they wanted bins installed to do something about it.The boys helped do a litter pick of the skatepark and immediate surrounding area, so that the positive impact of the bins can be measured later in the year and compared.Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Resource and Waste Education Officer, Youth Development Officer, and Supervisor of Civic Maintenance recently installed the new bins and rewarded the enterprising boys with a sausage sizzle.“Following the recent waste education activities by Snowy Monaro Regional Council, including a visit to JCS last week, it’s heartening to see the fruits of past education efforts paying off,” said Mayor Peter Beer, Snowy Monaro Regional Council.“The people of our region really care about our villages, towns and the unique environment we live in.
