Woollahra Council delivers $107,000 in grants to support local community initiatives Published: 16 July 2018 Community and Cultural and Environmental grants were presented by Mayor of Woollahra, Peter M Cavanagh at a special event at Woollahra Council Chambers.Initiatives provided with funding include A Unique Hug, a not-for-profit community engagement project where members of the community come together to knit items for the vulnerable or and/or socially isolated; the Friendship Walk, an annual family fun day in support and celebration of young people living with disability, and weekly beach clean-up activities in Rose Bay aimed at increasing awareness of plastic pollution problems.“It is imperative that we recognise and support those that cater to the needs of the community,” the Mayor said.“Through our grants program, we’re pleased to be able to provide assistance to many wonderful local organisations – many of which are not-for-profit – and help to showcase and nurture local talent.“We believe their innovative ideas, projects and events will enhance the Woollahra Municipality by supporting local businesses, enhancing its natural environment increasing local community engagement and connectedness.“Congratulations to all of our worthy grant recipients – your projects will help to make Woollahra an even better place to live and visit.
