Green bins for our ‘leafy’ neighbourhoods

Thousands more tonnes of green waste will be diverted from landfill each year after Council today resolved to expand the City’s green waste kerbside service eligibility to include up to an additional 9,000 rural residential properties.The service was previously only available in urban areas.“This is great news, not just for those residents who haven’t been able to access it previously, but also for our environment,” Mayor Tom Tate said. “Last year more than 7,500 tonnes of green waste was collected as part of this service and turned into compost.
