Kick back, relax and celebrate this Australia Day as two of the city’s most iconic venues come alive with local performers, delicious food offerings, and entertainment for all ages.On Sunday 26 January, Broadwater Parklands and the Southport Aquatic Centre will throw two of the Gold Coast’s biggest Australia Day parties, for the whole community to enjoy.Mayor Tom Tate said the events offered an impressive line-up of entertainment, and were a good opportunity for the community to get behind some great causes.“From 4pm to 8pm, Broadwater Parklands will boast delicious food vendors, games for children and beach volleyball on the foreshore,” he said.“Relax to the smooth sounds of the headlining act, The Round Mountain Girls and support acts Electrik Lemonade, San Mei and Liv Heyer.“There will be activations and player appearances from the Gold Coast Titans and AFLW, as well as a spectacular fireworks finale at approximately 7.45pm.“In support of our local legends at the Rural Volunteer Fire Service, we are creating a special ‘Hero Zone’ where locals will have the chance to engage with and donate money to the volunteer firefighters.“Wildcare Australia will have a pouch decorating activation for rescued joeys that have been affected by the bushfires.“We will also be raising money for our drought-stricken farmers and are encouraging everyone to head to 92.5 Triple M on the day to donate a gold coin, with all proceeds going to Rural Aid Australia.
