Whitsunday Regional Council will be upgrading Halpannel Park and Blue Gum Park in Proserpine with new shaded playground equipment, funded by the Works for Queensland program.

Two new playgrounds and an entertaining area are being installed at Halpannel Park from this week, including a climbing play park with slides and an urban warrior area which will challenge kids of all ages.

Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox said the new playgrounds will include equipment for all ages and abilities.

“We are really pleased to be installing these new playgrounds which can be enjoyed by everyone, and which will be protected from the sun with new shade sails,” he said.

“Halpannel Park will also get a new sheltered BBQ and tables in an entertaining area between both playgrounds, which can be used by families during a day out at the park.”

“We have also been able to reuse the existing shade sail from Halpannel Park and will be installing this in Blue Gum Park at Whitsunday Gardens.”

Whitsunday Gardens will receive a new playground to replace the existing play equipment and works are expected to begin from early December.

Works on both parks are expected to be completed by early January 2021, weather permitting. These projects have been funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.
