YOUR REGION, YOUR VISION: MAKING THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS OF 2043

YOUR REGION, YOUR VISION: MAKING THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS OF 2043 Posted on May 8, 2023 What do you love about the Central Highlands, where do you see our community going, how do we get there and what needs to change?  These are just some of the big questions council wants the community to help tackle as it launches the Your Region, Your Vision project to understand the wants and needs of the community and guide planning for the next 20 years.  In the coming months, council will host a series of roundtables, pop-ups and conversations with people and organisations throughout the Central Highlands to develop a region-wide and 13 community-specific visions.  Mayor Kerry Hayes commented on how having a community vision was beneficial to understanding community wants and needs and to help manage changes in the region.  ’Now is your opportunity to have your say on what the Central Highlands region will be in 2043, and contribute your ideas on what we need to reach that vision,’ said Mayor Hayes.  ‘No idea is too big or small to contribute as part of you Your Region, Your Vision and we need diverse and creative ideas to solve matters that are important to the region.  ‘Think, how we attract more families to the region, how we will plan housing for new residents, what new industries can we attract, what are the jobs of the future, what are the best kept secrets of our towns that we can share with the world – anything that will help make the Central Highlands a vibrant and prosperous region,’ he continued.  Mayor Hayes said that the community visioning project would be community developed and led.   ‘Council’s role in the visioning process is simply to provide the framework to develop the vision – the community will be the author of the 2043 vision,’ he said.  ’To create this vision, we will be inviting all residents across the Central Highlands region to take part, from Arcadia Valley to Tieri and Bogantungan to Duaringa.  ‘We want to hear from arts groups and sporting clubs, youth and senior citizens, charities and religious congregations, school students and apprentices, Indigenous communities, environmental groups, farmers and industry, businesses large and small, investors and visitors,’ he continued.  ’Working together, the Central Highlands will make a vision for 2043 that provides opportunities for all.’  For more information about Your Region, Your Vision visit: haveyoursay.chrc.qld.gov.au/MyCHVision
