Dog owners reminded it's time to renew pet registrations

Dog owners are reminded they have until 31 July 2024 to renew their dog registration for the 2024/25 rego period.Around 25,000 renewal notices have been sent out to registered dog owners across the Cairns region.The most important reason to register your pet and keep your rego details up to date is so Council can quickly return your furry friend if they become lost.Dog registration fees also help fund Council’s animal-related services including: Operation of the Animal Care & Education CentreCollecting and caring for 800+ pets found wandering each yearInvestigating dog attacks and barking complaintsEducation encouraging responsible pet ownershipDog off-leash areas and poo bagsPatrolling public spaces.
