Council CEO resigns

Redland City Council would like to advise that after seven and a half years of dedicated public service to the Redlands Coast community, Andrew Chesterman has today resigned from his position as Council’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).During this time, Mr Chesterman successfully navigated Council through the COVID-19 pandemic and has been a strong advocate for programs that improved Council’s approach to safety, people management, organisational culture and leadership.Mr Chesterman leaves Council in a strong financial position, with a new digital transformation program underway and a modern approach to advocacy, major projects management, strategic planning, procurement, and capital works programming.Highly regarded for humanistic leadership, he has also driven the introduction of a new Employee Value Proposition, development of Council’s first Reconciliation Action Plan, the adoption of the Hidden Disability Sunflower Initiative, and sponsored many leadership development programs with the organisation being recognised nationally for many of these commitments.Mr Chesterman said he was most proud of his connection with employees.“I wish the Mayor, Councillors, our employees and business partners all the very best, and will watch with great affection as Redland City Council continues to make our location one of the very best places on Earth to live, work and play,” he said.Mr Chesterman will continue as CEO until close of business 13 September 2024.In a special meeting of Council today, Council accepted Mr Chesterman’s resignation and appointed Louise Rusan to Act as CEO from 13 September 2024 while Council undertakes the recruitment process for a new CEO.On behalf of Councillors, Mayor Jos Mitchell thanked Mr Chesterman for his service to the Redlands Coast community and wished him all the very best for his future.
