Dredging scheduled for Weinam Creek at Redland Bay
Redland City Council 13 Nov 2024

Redland City Council contractors will undertake dredging work in the Weinam Creek marina and entrance channel to remove accumulated sediment.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said work was underway and was expected to continue into March next year.

“It is necessary work to provide additional clearance to the seabed for vessels using Weinam Creek,” she said.

“Council contractors will also be undertaking associated environmental monitoring and survey as required during the works.”

Division 5 Councillor Shane Rendalls said the Redland Bay ferry terminal would remain operational throughout the dredge program.

“If there are any inconveniences or delays associated with this work, they are expected to only be minor,” he said.

Dredging in the vicinity of the ferry terminal is expected to be completed before Christmas. It helps improve safety while boarding at low tide by reducing the variation in height between the jetty and docking ferries.

Work is expected to recommence in the main dredging area of the creek from 6 January 2025 and continue until mid to late March. Work will be conducted from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
