Adventures never end on Redlands Coast

Redlands Coast is blessed with diverse natural assets that draw major outdoor events to the city each year, including triathlons, surfing, trail running and mountain bike racing. It also has drawn the attention of the producers of global television series Adventure All Stars who decided North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) would be an ideal location to headline the show’s second episode of season five.Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell welcomed the production and said it would showcase the wide range of nature-based and adventure activities that the city had to offer.“We boast a naturally wonderful North Stradbroke Island, hinterland bushland, and the glorious waters and islands of Southern Moreton Bay,” the Mayor said.“Plus we enjoy a climate that is suitable for outdoor recreation year-round.”Adventure All Stars filmed for a week on Minjerribah in late October. The series is a socially conscious TV travel show with a difference, with 12 different philanthropic cast members each episode travelling to spectacular locations to uncover the best and most exciting activities on the planet. While filming, they experienced the best of North Stradbroke Island and the waters of Moreton Bay, including sandboarding, kayaking, Traditional Owners cultural tours, four-wheel driving, sailing and surfing.Adventure All Stars cast members about to board a Sealink ferry at Cleveland for a week of fun-loving island life. The TV series is created and produced by Australian-based production company Charity TV Global.Prior to the start of season five, all cast members raised funds for charity, and their reward was the trip-of-a-lifetime with Adventure All Stars. All net proceeds from the TV series are gifted to Australian charities.Funds raised via the North Stradbroke Island episode will go towards Brain Cancer Research, headspace (National Youth Mental Health Foundation), MindBlank, RizeUp, Strike Out Suicide, Suicide Prevention Australia and Transplant Australia.Adventure All Stars now screens in 195 countries to an audience approaching 200 million people. The Adventure All Stars cast experienced sandboarding on Minjerribah.Mayor Jos Mitchell said Redlands Coast was positioning itself as an adventure destination par excellence with plans for a signature festival next year that would showcase the city’s natural assets. The proposed Redlands Coast AdventureFest will be held over two weekends – 16-25 May 2025 – with one major event delivered by Council amid a varied compilation of citywide events from other operators.“The proposed event will include active and outdoors participation sporting events showcasing the bay, islands, mountains and conservation reserves, such as mountain biking, hikes, kayaking, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing, rogaining and triathlons,” the Mayor said.Division 2 Councillor Peter Mitchell said Minjerribah was a naturally wonderful tourism drawcard that deserved the global attention it was getting.“We look forward to seeing North Stradbroke Island featured in Adventure All Stars and the adventure tourism opportunities it will promote,” he said. The Adventure All Stars cast and crew enjoy a day sailing off Minjerribah.
