Charters Towers Regional Council has officially adopted its Economic Development Strategy 2025-2030, outlining its vision for growth, investment and prosperity for the region.
Developed through extensive consultation with local businesses, industry stakeholders, and community members, the Strategy identifies key priorities and opportunities to drive sustainable economic development over the next five years.
Mayor Liz Schmidt welcomed the adoption of the Strategy, highlighting its importance in shaping the future of the region.
"This Strategy provides a clear vision for economic growth, supporting local businesses, attracting investment, and improving infrastructure. It reflects the aspirations of our community and ensures that Charters Towers remains a vibrant, thriving, and prosperous region for years to come," Mayor Schmidt said.
The Economic Development Strategy focuses on three key pillars:
• Regional Collaboration & Advocacy – Strengthening partnerships and advocating for infrastructure and services that support growth.
• Investment Attraction & Local Business Support – Encouraging new industries while fostering the success of existing businesses.
• Infrastructure Investment & Planning – Delivering essential infrastructure to enhance liveability and economic opportunity.
The Strategy also identifies major opportunities for the region, including expansion in mining and critical minerals, tourism growth, agriculture diversification, and renewable energy development.
Council is committed to working with all levels of government, industry, and community groups to implement the Strategy and ensure its success.
