Tapping Away Stress workshop held to help community reconnect and heal following bushfires

In response to the recent fire events in the Yeppoon area, Glenda Channells, Counsellor and Family Therapist, is offering a free workshop to anyone who has been directly or indirectly affected by the fires.“Tapping” (also known as Emotional Freedom Technique) has become widely researched and promoted due to its success in reducing the effects of physical pain, emotional stress and trauma.Glenda said this simple and easy to learn technique is highly effective to calm the central nervous system and support our ability to deal with the effects of stressors in our lives.“Participants can learn and practice simple techniques for lessening the effects of anxiety, trauma and other emotional stressors, reducing the intensity and effects of physical pain or energy toning to reduce overall stress and reactivity levels,” Glenda explained.“I encourage anybody interested to come along and experience for themselves, the joy and relief this workshop can provide.”Community Development Councillor Jan Kelly said it is important that residents affected by the bushfires know they are not alone during this difficult time.“The aftershock of such a significant and for many, tragic event, can have a huge impact on those residents directly or indirectly affected.
