Better transport and waste solutions focus of international mission

Better transport and waste management solutions for Redlands Coast will be the focus of an international delegation to north America beginning from next week.Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the South East Queensland Council of Mayors delegation would continue the push for better transport connectivity ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.“With the Olympic and Paralympic Games less than a decade away we need better transport solutions for our community and this delegation will focus on building the relationships and finding the solutions to get residents around the city safer and faster,” Cr Williams said.“The delegation will also investigate better waste solutions for South East Queensland, continuing our strong commitment to finding ways to reduce our waste to landfill and in doing so delivering environmental and economic improvements.“Waste has been a priority for Council recently, with Redlands joining an alliance of SEQ Councils collectively investigating a regional material recovery facility that would deliver significant environmental and economic benefits.“These investigations are progressing positively and I am confident the delegation to north America will unearth potential opportunities to progress this and other innovative solutions to waste.”Better transport solutions will be investigated during a South East Queensland Council of Mayors delegation to north America.Cr Williams will also visit a white water facility in Charlotte and receive a briefing on an emergency services swift water rescue facility ahead of the delegation.“These facilities are global leaders in their respective uses and forming relationships with their operators will provide exciting opportunities for the Redlands Coast white water facility being delivered in Birkdale,” she said.“This delegation is part of the regular international missions undertaken by the Council of Mayors.
