Construction works to install a brand-new pedestrian bridge over Myall Creek have reached a major milestone this week, as part of a continued commitment to delivering new lifestyle opportunities for residents and visitors in the Western Downs. The new 15.3 metre-long steel girder bridge structure has been lifted into place near Amos Street, as part of a vision to reinvent the area as a key recreational hub, encouraging more people to head outdoors and enjoy their local park facilities. Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said the bridge installation was part of a suite of works to revitalise the area as a key events and recreational space. “This new bridge will give residents and visitors another opportunity to explore our fantastic region, offering a new crossing point over Myall Creek that is wheelchair accessible and suitable for pedestrians and cyclists,” Cr McVeigh said.
