In South Australia we have an emergency alert system that may provide advice or warning information on specific incidents or events. Alert SA' (has been operational for some time now) provides the public (by mobile, land line - and media) with emergency messages, that may include extreme weather (both heat and storms) and is populated by the CFS, MFS and SAPOL.
