A team of West Coast Council staff and councillors have joined forces to raise the awareness of men’s health via the Movember campaign.
Mayor Phil Vickers, celebrating one year in the seat at Mayor, is on board for the challenge, “The funds you raise will help tackle prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity – it’s great to see us having some fun whilst raising awareness.”
Movember started in 2003 and has grown to be an international event to raise awareness of men’s health and whilst some will be growing, others will be moving as female members of staff have signed up as Mosista’s, pledging to undertake physical activity each day during November.
Recently Council staff have selected a charity to fundraise for each month, including Jeans for Genes Day, Bandana Day and Footy Colours Day.
Should the $1,500 target be achieved Council employee Matthew Snow will be removing his treasured beard.
Donations can be made at the Council Office in Queenstown, or online at our Movember Team Page. The team will also be hosting a BBQ fundraising event on 19 Movember in Queenstown.
