Rosebery Plaza Works Complete

A commitment by West Coast Council for the Rosebery Plaza to be a functional open space has been met, with the popular area reopened to the public this afternoon

Initial works to remove trip hazards and unsafe facilities commenced at the site, located in the centre of town, during the Mine Assistance Program in 2014. Due to a lack of funds the full refurbishment could not be completed, resulting in a large section of the Plaza being unavailable for use.

The project was highlighted as one of importance by the Rosebery community during the West Coast Community Plan 2025 community engagement program.

“Council listened to the concerns of the community and budgeted accordingly for the redevelopment to be completed as soon as possible this financial year,” Mayor Phil Vickers said. “The Plaza is now a space the community can be proud of and is testament to the hard work of Council staff to ensure the works were completed as promised.”

The Rosebery Christmas Parade and community activities including the Rosebery Athletics Carnival will be held this Saturday 19 December, with the Plaza providing a vital public open space for locals and visitors to utilise.

Works completed as part of the project included ground treatment, landscaping and laying of artificial turf.  Mining replica silhouettes donated by MMG Rosebery Mine were also installed.
