A message from The Department of State Growth regarding the upcoming bus service changes:
From 20 January 2019, bus passengers in southern Tasmania will notice a series of improvements to their public transport network with all bus services in the southern region brought together under one network. This will make travel simpler and paves the way for the introduction of a single integrated state wide transport network and a common ticketing system.
The key changes for the Sorell Municipality include more frequent services to Sorell and Midway Point. The introduction of a more direct route for express services travelling from Sorell and Dodges Ferry/Carlton and a new ‘all stops service’ service that travels via Midway Point and into Cambridge Park and Cambridge town ship.
Sorell residents will be able to use both Redline Sorell and Dodges Ferry/Carlton services and Tassielink east coast and Tasman Peninsula services.
With all services now starting and finishing at Elizabeth Street (Town Hall), Sorell, Dodges Ferry/Carlton and Tasman Peninsula passengers will have a consistent pick up and drop off point closer to the Hobart CBD.
As a result services will no longer pick up and drop off at Bathurst and Brisbane Streets. Students travelling to Hobart based schools will need to catch a student only bus or transfer in Hobart.
The current school bus services are different and will remain unchanged.
