Huon Valley welcomed four new Australian citizens at a citizenship ceremony held in the Council Chambers on 23 January 2025.
Our newest citizens, originally from Estonia, Germany, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, took their citizenship pledges in front of family and friends. The ceremony marked an important milestone in their Australian journey, showing their commitment to our local community.
Mayor Sally Doyle hosted the ceremony, alongside Council CEO Lachlan Kranz, Councillors Mrosek and O’Neill. Distinguished guests included Minister Abetz, Meg Brown MP, Dean Harris MLC, and representatives from the offices of Senator Jonathon Duniam, Senator Catryna Bilyk and Minister Jacquie Petrusma.
“It’s always a privilege to welcome new citizens to our community,” said Mayor Doyle. “Each person brings their own unique perspective and contribution to the Huon Valley.”
To commemorate this special occasion, the new citizens received their certificates of Australian Citizenship, along with a 2025 Australian Citizenship coin and an Australian native plant.
