Council is about to commence infrastructure works in Huonville and Ranelagh to improve both safety and accessibility for local residents.
Starting next week, work will begin along Wilmot Rd, in front of Huonville High School. These improvements include the construction of a footpath, the addition of new parking spaces, an extended bus bay, and vital stormwater upgrades. The project is designed to create a safer environment for pedestrians and drivers, particularly around the busy school area, enhancing the daily commute for students, parents, and teachers alike.
In parallel, work will also take place along Agnes St, stretching from the Village Green to the Marguerite St intersection. This section will see the installation of a new footpath and stormwater infrastructure creating an important linkage along this key route. The new path on the Southwest side of Agnes St will offer a safer, more accessible route for pedestrians traveling to local services or catching the bus.
We expect the improvements to be completed by late March.
There may be some partial road closures for short periods during the works. Please follow the directions of signage and traffic controllers onsite.
These works are funded by the Australian Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. Council is excited to continue working with the community to deliver improvements that benefit all local residents.
