Council tendering for Cundy Park repairs

Council tendering for Cundy Park repairs

Earlier this year, Council applied for grant funding to replace the current structure with a new, all-abilities playground.   During this application period, the timber structures were closed due to concerns about the structural integrity of the wooden playground equipment and fenced off for public safety.  Unfortunately, Council was recently informed that the grant application was unsuccessful.   Given the extent and anticipated cost of the structural repairs, Council sought the grant funding as an opportunity to significantly upgrade the playground as a much-loved asset for the Myrtleford community and avoid spending any unnecessary additional funds on repair works.  Despite this setback, Council's priority is to ensure that the Cundy Park playground is safely reopened as soon as possible.   Council is tendering for the necessary structural works to make this happen.  Council's Chief Executive Officer, Will Jeremy, acknowledged the community's frustration over the extended closure.   "We understand the inconvenience this has caused and sincerely apologise for the delay," he said.   "We appreciate everyone's patience as we work to reopen the Cundy Park playground and continue our efforts to secure funding for a future redevelopment."  Council will provide further updates on the progress of the Cundy Park playground once the tender is awarded and a timeframe established.
