The Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools are now open for the 2024/25 season.
Both facilities, managed by Gannawarra Shire Council, opened at 3pm today, with the venues to operate from 3pm to 7pm during the remainder of November.
“It is fantastic to welcome people back to the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools, with the recent warm weather providing ideal conditions for our staff to prepare both sites for the start of the season,” Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Amanda Wilson said.
“Our dedicated group of outdoor swimming pool lifeguard are looking forward to what will be a busy season, with many programs including Morning Laps, community functions, school swimming lessons and swim club events expected to be popular over the summer months.”
As part of Council’s efforts to maximise service availability and staffing, new opening hour arrangements will be in place during December through to the end of the season. These arrangements are:
Sunday, 1 December to Friday, 20 December: Open 3pm-8pm weekdays and 10am-8pm weekends. Saturday, 21 December to Friday, 31 January: Open 10am-8pm daily. Saturday, 1 February to Friday, 28 February: Open 3pm-8pm weekdays and 10am-8pm weekends. Saturday, 1 March to Monday, 10 March: Open 3pm-7pm daily.Both swimming pools will also be open 12 noon-7pm on Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Australia Day and the Labour Day public holiday, but closed on Christmas Day.
“Residents are advised that the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either Cohuna or Kerang is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Ms Wilson said.
“Any changes to opening times, including during instances of inclement weather, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page.”
Season passes are available to purchase from the Cohuna and Kerang Customer Service Centres, or from either pool during the season.
