Cardinia Shire Council proudly hosted the annual Good Choice Awards celebrating young individuals aged 12-24 who have shown resilience, kindness, and strength in their decision-making throughout 2024

This special event celebrated the outstanding achievements of Cardinia's local youth and their valuable contributions to the community. Families, friends, educators, and community leaders came together, united by a shared commitment to creating a supportive environment for young people to thrive.

The ceremony was a resounding success, filled with inspiring stories and testimonials from nominees and their families. 90 young people were nominated for their positive choices, which included prioritising their studies, applying for jobs, making informed health decisions, and actively engaging with supportive networks. Each nominee received a certificate in recognition of their outstanding efforts.

Cardinia Shire Mayor, Councillor Jack Kowarzik, expressed his admiration and pride for the young people working hard to achieve their goals.

"It was wonderful to see so many young people in our community recognised for their positive choices. We hope that acknowledging and celebrating these achievements will inspire others to make similar commendable choices, and give participants a great deal of confidence", said Mayor Kowarzik.

"We are incredibly proud of our young people; their resilience and ability to navigate challenges with determination and grace is inspiring to see."

The Good Choice Awards highlight the importance of resilience, kindness, and informed decision-making in shaping a brighter future. Cardinia Shire Council looks forward to continuing this tradition and celebrating the incredible potential of our youth community.
