Council wishes residents happy, safe Christmas

Essential staff will be on call for emergencies while Corangamite Shire Council is closed for the festive season.

The Civic Centre and some services will close over the Christmas and New Year period but residents with urgent issues can still call Council on 5593 7100 and speak to an on-call officer.

The offices will close at 12 pm, Tuesday 24 December and re-open at 8:30 am on Thursday 2 January 2025.

Mayor Kate Makin wished all residents a happy and safe festive season.

“On behalf of councillors and council staff I would like to wish all of our Shire residents a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,” she said.

“It’s been a huge year and I encourage everyone to take a well-earned break.

“While there’s no such thing as a day off in farming, it’s important to look after yourselves and what better way to recharge the batteries than spending quality time with loved ones.

“I hope you all have a safe, restful and peaceful holiday season and we look forward to achieving great things together in the new year.”

Cr Makin encouraged everyone to be careful on the roads and in the water, and to remain alert for fire danger warnings.

“If you haven’t already, you can download the VicEmergency to get warnings and updates, or watch Council’s Facebook page and website,” she said.
