Council seeks community aspirations for Budget, long term plan

Residents are invited to have their say on the development of Council’s 2025-2026 Budget and long term financial plan.

Mayor Kate Makin encouraged residents to have their say as Council set priorities for the coming financial year.

“What would you like to see funded in the 2025-2026 budget?” Cr Makin asked.

“We want to hear what is important to our residents and what their priorities are.

“How do Council services make a difference in your life and how could they be improved?”

Cr Makin said Council was just starting the planning process for its 2025-2026 Budget and wanted residents to have their say on how ratepayers’ dollars are spent.

“With 16,000 residents, more than 20 service areas and over half a billion dollars worth of roads, bridges, buildings, footpaths and equipment to maintain, finding the right balance is a massive job.

“We need to make sure resources are shared fairly and equitably while still delivering the high level of services or community deserves.”

Cr Makin said Council was also seeking input for its Long Term Financial Plan.

“The financial plan is a living document,” she said.

“It is constantly being reviewed to make sure it is in line with long-term goals set out in the 2040 Community Vision.

“It helps guide how budgets are developed to ensure Council remains financially sustainable.”
