The adoption of the Gannawarra Planning Scheme Review Report 2024 was the highlight of Gannawarra Shire Council’s last meeting for 2024.
Held at the Kerang Senior Citizens Centre on 18 December, the main item of discussion was the first stage of the review of the Gannawarra Planning Scheme.
The review evaluated the effectiveness of the planning scheme in meeting its legislative objectives, identified areas for improvement, and outlined strategic priorities to guide future development.
A planning scheme amendment will be initiated as part of the second phase of the review process, which Council will seek community feedback regarding.
The latest version of Council’s CEO Employment and Renumeration Policy was also adopted at the meeting. The document, which must be reviewed within six months after each Council election, outlines the mechanisms which support Council in fulfilling its obligations regarding the employment of Council’s Chief Executive Officer, and Council’s responsibilities relating to this under the Local Government Act 2020.
Questions from the public relating to road management within Koondrook were also addressed.
