Maude Street Footpath Upgrade Project Complete

Maude Street Footpath Upgrade Project Complete

Infrastructure improvement works continue to progress across Ararat Rural City, with the recent completion of another significant project.Construction of a brand-new footpath has been completed on Maude Street in Ararat, beginning at Barkly Street and continuing to McGibbony Street East, significantly improving pedestrian safety and accessibility. This project is supported by Council's Capital Works Program, which includes $400,000 in funding allocated to improving and maintaining footpaths and cycleways.Residents can now enjoy a short ten-minute walk from Barkly Street to Gordon Street Recreation Reserve, with the new pathway now providing improved access to the premium sporting facility, which underwent a multi-million-dollar upgrade last year. This multi-use pavilion provides the community with access to multi-code club facilities, competition-standard playing surfaces for senior and junior soccer, AFL, and cricket, dedicated Little Athletics facilities, and a Ninja Course.“Council's 2031 Community Vision outlines our commitment to enhancing access to cultural and recreational opportunities that meet the needs and expectations of our community,” says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong. “This vision, which was developed through extensive community engagement, prioritises projects like this to provide improved connectivity for residents to access and enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle.”
