Families in Elliminyt will soon be enjoying sausage sizzles in the Wyuna Estate Reserve, with construction to begin on a new shelter and barbecue.
The new amenities near the reserve’s existing playspace will enhance the experience of park users in the estate.
Work will begin on the new facilities on Monday 28 April, starting with a concrete slab and construction of the shelter frame and roof.
Installation of a new electric barbecue will follow once the shelter is up. Works are expected to be completed by mid-May.
The reserve, on the corner of Scanlan Drive and Wyuna Drive, serves a growing and diverse community.
General Manager of Community and Economy Ian Seuren said local residents had expressed a desire for more community facilities at the reserve.
“We’re looking forward to a fantastic space for families and friends to gather, recognising the community spirit in this growing part of Elliminyt,” Mr Seuren said.
“This investment reflects our commitment to providing high-quality recreational spaces for our residents, with welcoming places for outdoor activities and social gatherings,” he said.
Council included the barbecue and picnic shelter in its 2024-25 budget.
