Addressing public bin concerns

Addressing public bin concerns

Council's contractors, SSX Group, maintain a thorough schedule, ensuring that all of our bins are emptied regularly across the Shire.  At present, Council bins are emptied over 800 times per week, with waste and recycling bins in the main streets of Bright, Mount Beauty, Myrtleford and Tawonga South emptied daily.  During peak times, like the summer and Easter school holidays, this number increases by an additional 386 services a week to accommodate the higher demand.  Over the past few weeks, we've also been made aware of overflowing bins located at the entrance of the Woolworths supermarket in Bright. These bins are not the responsibility of Council and all enquiries should be directed to Woolworths.  Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr John Forsyth, encouraged everyone to dispose of waste responsibly.  "If you find a bin that's full, please take your rubbish to the next available bin.
