Michelle returns home and becomes ‘Nurse Next Door’

Michelle Shelton has returned to her hometown of Wodonga and is now using decades of skills learned in healthcare to operate Nurse Next Door.  With her husband Tim, she’s found a special place to use her unique skill set to service Wodonga residents in need of home care services.  “Our last child leaving home coincided with my 92-year-old mum fracturing her hip a few months ago, and as mum and dad live independently at home, I wanted to be closer to help them out if needed,” she said.  “So, my husband Tim and I recently moved back to the beautiful Albury Wodonga region to be near my family.”    They have a history of owning businesses, particularly pharmacies, so stepping into this new chapter has been a great fit.  ”I have a passion for the healthcare system and our need as a society to protect it,” Ms Shelton said.  “Covid has left its mark on the hospital system and the people within it, and is struggling more now than I remember it before.    “I see a robust community health support system as being a solution to this worsening issue.   “More than this, the needs of the individual are often better met when care occurs in the home.    “For those who are medically well enough to leave the hospital but are now less able to look after themselves at home, daily living support and regular nurse supervision may be just the key to allow them to stay safely in their home, connected to family and community with proactive care given reducing hospital readmissions.”  The Nurse Next Door Home Care Services has been servicing our local communities for the past five years.   With a long-term commitment and core purpose of Making Lives Better, Nurse Next Door Australia provides premium personalised home care services to meet the exacting Australian aged care and disability standards.   Underpinned by philosophies of care known as Happier Ageing and Possibility, The Nurse Next Door is here to challenge the status quo and do home care differently; empowering people to lead lives filled with Positivity, Possibility and Purpose.  “We are so excited to be offering these services now having opened our doors last month and look forward to cultivating long-lasting relationships while we are Making Lives Better in our beautiful region,” Ms Shelton said.  For more information visit www.nursenextdoor.com.au or phone 1300 600 247.
