Applications open for Arts and Community Grants

The City of Fremantle is supporting projects and initiatives that contribute to our community’s COVID-19 recovery in the latest round of Arts and Community Grants.Applications are now open and interested applicants have until 5pm, Wednesday 30 September 2020 to apply for either the Arts or Community category of the City’s grants program. There are five $5,000 arts grants available for arts projects that focus on collaborating and connecting with other local artists, residents, visitors or businesses, as well as community grants of up to $5,000 for community initiatives that respond directly to the significant challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said the arts grants would help stimulate Freo’s creative economy and assist local artists in bringing their work to life.“Now more than ever, our local artists and performers play a fundamental role in connecting community, lifting people’s spirit and helping them recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis,” Mayor Pettitt said.“The community grants will prioritise initiatives that support vulnerable and disadvantaged groups that have been hit hardest by COVID-19.“Fremantle Council is highly committed to assisting community groups that are responding directly to the impacts of the global pandemic, including homelessness, exacerbated mental health concerns, drug and alcohol use and increase in family and domestic violence.“I would encourage anyone interested in the grants to firstly visit the City’s website to determine their eligibility and view the assessment criteria, as well as contact our Grants Officers to discuss their project.”For more information, visit fremantle.wa.gov.au/grants or email our Grants Officers on [email protected].
