The new Binningup Volunteer Bushfire Brigade building was officially opened on Saturday, 14 November.
Shire of Harvey President Paul Gillett said the building was an important piece of infrastructure to ensure our community is kept safe and our first responders have a fit for purpose building to respond to emergencies.
“The volunteers who generously donate their time to the Binningup Volunteer Bushfire Brigade are the lifeblood of this community and it is great to be able to provide a building to ensure they are equipped and ready to tackle the emergency situations that may come their way,” Cr Gillett said.
The new building includes a two bay drive through appliance shed, storage rooms, training room, communications and office space, kitchen and bathroom facilities.
The total cost of construction was $592,597 of which $389,739 was a DFES Capital Grant with the Shire of Harvey contributing $202,858.
“Thanks to everyone involved in making this project possible, but special mention goes to the volunteers who donate their time and encourage each other with their generous community spirit, without you this brigade would not exist,” Cr Gillett said.
