The Fremantle Community Legal Centre is offering free legal advice to the public tomorrow as part of The Law Society of WA’s annual Law Week.Law Week 2021, held from 17–21 May, provides an opportunity for the community to understand the role of law in society.Lawyers from the Fremantle Community Legal Centre, along with a number of private lawyers, will offer free 20-minute appointments in the Fremantle Malls this Wednesday 19 May from 9.30am until 3pm.Areas of law include family (divorce, children and property); wills and estates; tenancy; debts; traffic matters; consumer law; employment law; violence/misconduct restraining orders; minor civil matters and minor criminal matters; property matters; medical negligence; and Centrelink issues.Fremantle Community Legal Centre Principal Solicitor Judy McLean said the aim of Law Week was to help bring the community and legal profession together.“Law Week provides us with the opportunity to help our community access justice, legal information, resources and support,” Ms McLean said.“We have a number of lawyers from a private firm who have confirmed their involvement in providing pro bono advice to the public.“Private lawyers are extremely generous when it comes to providing pro bono legal advice at a financial cost to their own practice on the day.
