Congratulations are in order for two trainees from the City of Fremantle’s Parks and Landscape team, who have graduated with a Certificate III in Horticulture from South Metropolitan TAFE.
Brianna Loveland and Alistair Bell also took home awards as part of the Class of 2024 graduation ceremony, run by program partner Maxima Employment Services.
Brianna won the Accomplishment Award and Alistair won the Trainee of the Year Award as well as being a finalist in the State Awards for Excellence.
Another trainee, Hari Venkatesan, will continue his TAFE studies and workplace development next year.
The City’s Parks Coordinator Tim Marks said it’s great reward for their hard work.
“This is fantastic recognition for Brianna and Alistair’s dedication and commitment to the traineeship program,” Mr Marks said.
The City of Fremantle also won the award for Outstanding Contribution by a Host, beating national corporations to the top prize, for providing a welcoming environment and diverse learning opportunities for the trainees.
The City’s horticulture traineeship program was launched in March 2023, to create an employment pathway and provide hands-on experience for people interested in greening the city.
Trainees earned a wage while studying and gaining valuable skills working alongside experienced City officers.
Brianna and Alistair have secured ongoing employment with the City in the Parks and Landscape team.
