Weekend on the Green Delights Crowds

The City of Rockingham’s Weekend on the Green attracted thousands of people for a magical night under the stars with Symphony on the Green on Saturday 22 February, and a cosy crowd of young families for Performance in the Park on Sunday 23 February.

Led by conductor Jessica Gethin, and supported by superstar soloists Sophie Foster and Solomon Pitt, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra played a hit list of favourites from iconic movies, TV shows and musical eras. From the excitement of Mission Impossible and Star Wars, to the hauntingly evocative strains of Schindler’s List and ET, from Bluey’s catchy jingle, to a selection of popular hits from previous decades, there was something for everyone.

“Symphony on the Green is as one of the highlights of our Summer Series of free, family-friendly entertainment,” said City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin.

Providing opportunities for community engagement and participation is an essential part of our strategic community plan, and we are delighted to provide such a high quality event to the many thousands of people who came out to enjoy the show.

On Sunday evening the stage was reset for Performance in the Park, with The Snowflake Mystery drawing an enthusiastic crowd of younger fans, and mums and dads.

The City of Rockingham is grateful to Lotterywest for supporting both Symphony on the Green and Performance in the Park.
