Stories shared by Albany residents will be celebrated through live performance at the Albany Song Story Concert at Albany Town Hall on April 24.

More than 40 community members contributed their personal stories to the Albany Song Story Project, which has collected memories tied to meaningful music.

The concert will feature professional musicians from the SongStory Project alongside local performers including the Sunset Singers senior citizens choir, The Zazzies, and students from schools across Albany.

Albany Mayor Greg Stocks said the event highlights the strong connections between music, memory and community.

“The Song Story Project offers a chance for people to reflect on the songs that have shaped their lives,” Mr Stocks said.

“By sharing those stories publicly, we’re not only honouring the memories of individuals but celebrating the power of music to connect us across generations.”

Sunset Singers member John Locke said he is looking forward to performing in the concert.

“It’s especially gratifying to know that the songs we will be singing will re-kindle fond and joyful past memories and emotions for our audience,” Mr Locke said.

“It is a lovely way to connect across generations.”

The Albany Song Story Concert is free, with doors opening at 12.30pm and the concert beginning at 1pm.

The project is delivered in partnership with the SongStory Project and supported by the Department for Communities.

Free tickets are available via albany.wa.gov.au/bookable.
