The Castaways Schools Exhibition Competition encourages schools to enter large scale outdoor sculptural works created from recycled and repurposed materials.These works will then be displayed alongside other selected entries in the Castaways Sculpture Awards Exhibition at the newly revitalised Rockingham Beach Foreshore throughout October and November 2019.The Castaways Schools Exhibition Competition is proudly supported by Alcoa of Australia and the Lions Club of Rockingham, which sponsor the primary and secondary school awards respectively.City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged schools across WA to enter the competition.“The Castaways Sculpture Awards is the premier event for art and culture in the City of Rockingham and the Castaways School’s Exhibition Competition is an important element of this magnificent event,” Mayor Sammels said.“The Castaways Schools Exhibition gives students the chance to show off their creative skills while also learning about the importance of recycling.“Historically, the entries the City has received from students of all ages has been very impressive and we look forward to seeing the bar being raised even further in 2019.”Castaways is a nine-day outdoor exhibition that will be curated by Lyn Di Ciero.
